Freelance Writing Goals for the New Year
Over the years, my freelance writing career has changed directions. At first, I spent a lot of time focusing on magazines. Then, I started writing for clients. Now, I am working on building up my passive income streams through my websites and blogs and through other revenue sharing sites. I’ve also returned back to magazine writing.
I understand that things change. So the goals that I wrote out last year, or even a few months ago, are much different than what they are now. So even though I like to start out each new year outlining my strategy, I need to review it almost monthly to make sure I still want the same things. About the only thing that changes are my monetary goals.
So I will be sitting down this week and spending some time thinking about my writing career and what I’d like to accomplish. If you want to do the same thing, consider the following questions.
- What kind of writing do I want to do?
- How much do I want to make?
- Thinking about the past year - what worked? What didn’t?
- How will I accomplish what I want to accomplish?
- Where will my income come from?
Those are the main questions I consider as I hold my freelance writing goal setting session. You can use them or come up with some questions of your own. Your goal may not include money at all - your main thing is that you may want to finish a novel or screenplay. That’s okay too - it doesn’t have to be all about the money.
