Start a Residual Income Business with Writing

Published by kohuether at 4:20 pm under Business, Residual Income, Writing Edit This

Yes, it is possible to have a residual income business based solely on writing. Right now, this is my main source of income so I know it works! Despite what popular internet advertising has to say, your writing skills alone could set you up with a nice residual income. You don’t even need to create a product or promote other people’s products.

Residual Income Website for Writers

There are a lot of websites out there with a revenue sharing business model. You post your articles on the sites and do your best to promote them, and you share the revenue with the website itself. Here is a short list of some of the best websites.

  • Ehow.com
  • Today.com
  • Bukisa.com
  • AssocitedContent.com
  • Triond.com

All of these sites offer residual earnings in some way. Other sites like Associated Content and Today.com may also offer a set rate per article which can have you earning even more money.

Choose One Site and Focus on It

Your first step is to choose one website from the list above and focus all of your effort on it. I know, it can feel overwhelming. There are a lot of sites out there that have this business model. But if you choose one that you feel strongly about and write one or two articles a day, you will be on your way to success.

If you are the type who can write several articles a day, you are better off putting more articles into the one website than joining others, at least until you are happy with your residual income.

Make Money with Articles - A Winning Routine

There is a trick to writing articles that will earn you residual income. I follow this routine every time, no matter which website I’m using at the moment.

  • Choose a basic subject for your article.
  • Find one keyword per article.
  • Place the keyword in the title, once in the first paragraph, and once in the last paragraph.
  • Participate in the site where you posted the article by commenting and rating, where applicable.
  • Promote the article using sites like stumbleupon, digg, and twitter. You can also do article marketing or any other promotional means you can think of.

And that’s it. Keyword research has to come first because that will get you traffic from the search engines. Any additional promotion you do will just increase your earnings even more.

How Much Can You Make?

If you have a few good residual income streams set up, you can easily make a living doing this. The key is to focus, find great keywords, write excellent content, and to not give up. If something isn’t working, hone your technique until you are making the income that you want. That’s why it is important to use one site at a time. For me, the routine I listed above works every time!
